Hot Foot

Summer has arrived in England. Many people are not wearing shirts especially old men with light blue moobs. People are going to the shops wearing red nylon shorts that they usually wear to bed. Some have rooted around in the suitcase on top of the wardrobe and dug out dusty, orange, toe post flip flops. Most of us will sit out in the garden sweating like pigs and gasping. Can’t wait to eat some uncooked sausages off the barbie later.

Brit Hot

Britain is in the middle of a heatwave right now. We’re not used to this. Our idea of a heatwave is probably Australia’s idea of a slightly chilly Autumn. We’re gripped by the idea that we have to make the most of it because it won’t last very long. Out come the lily white bods; so white they’re practically luminous. Reminds me of Billy Connolly’s joke about Scottish people’s natural colour being light blue. He says it takes him three solid days sunbathing to get white. I’m seeing a lot of people walking about with skin a similar colour to Vimto; naked they probably look like they’re wearing a white bikini. If you accidentally touch them they make a face like Christopher Lee in Dracula Has Risen From The Grave. ‘ Anyway, I took these pics at Hale Village near where I live. The forecasters are saying the heat is going to increase over the weekend and is here for at least another week. I may even have to take off my duffel coat.

Ice Pics

Here in the North West of England we got the first snow of the season today so I took a few pics. It’s night now and the snow has stopped but I can hear cars crunching on the road outside the front window so I reckon it must have frozen. I love snow but I don’t like the cold. I was meant to be living and working in the Bahamas but there was a terrible mix-up!

It’s freezing cold and wet here in England now but it’s also occasionally sunny so we seem to be getting unusually frequent rainbows. Here’s one I photographed above the football pitch. By the way, how hard is it to get a rainbow to show up on a photograph?!!

Cracking the flags

It’s hot in England at the moment. I took this by the River Dee in Chester today.
